The best advice? Everything in moderation. That includes carbohydrates, protein and fats — the three sources of calories.
Carbohydrates play a very important role in your overall health — they are the primary source of fuel for your muscles and brain. Eliminate carbohydrates from your diet and your body will soon begin to make them by breaking down your muscles and tissues — including vital organs such as your heart.
In general, shoot for 14 grams of carbohydrates per 1000 calories. Some of the best natural sources of fiber and carbohydrates are bananas (30 g), potatoes (26 g), wheat bread (24 g), brown rice (23 g) and oranges (19 g).
